You have an ability to bring together children and adults of all ages to make music. We love the variety of instruments and activities you incorporate into each class, the parachute, that colourful expandable scrunchy, the dancing…
Thank you for your passion and enthusiasm for music and teaching week after week, year after year!
Thanks so much for the class today, Emma. Tom loved it! And you are an excellent teacher. I can see why the children enjoy their music class so much… they were mesmerised by you! Well done for contributing to their lives in such a positive way.
We have attended the Music Together classes with Emma for several terms over the past two years, and really enjoy interacting with other families in a friendly, fun and informal environment. Emma brings to the class her love and knowledge of music, and her enthusiasm and experience as a teacher. She is sensitive to, and supportive of the needs of very young children. She invites us all to play instruments, dance and sing a great variety of songs, and there are many wonderful moments in which we feel a sense of joy, especially in making music with each other. Many of the songs work well because of the miming actions and the humour that is part of those songs, bringing delight and laughter. We have had many favourite songs on the CD collections and this allows us to play along with them at home.
What really stands out for me is Emma’s warm and caring nature; her dedication to teaching music to children is evident throughout every class. She reminds us that every child has musical potential, and that as adults we can enjoy making music with our children too.
Thought I would let you know how much we enjoyed the music class on Thursday morning. Thursday night my husband was helping Laura in the bath and I could hear her singing “Baa baa ba ba baaa” in different rhythm patterns. She was getting my husband to copy her and thoroughly enjoying it!
That was great! I want to work 4 days every week so I can always come to music class on Fridays.
I loved the years we spent in your Music Alley class. It enriched our family’s musical life immeasurably, providing us with a much wider repertoire of songs that we could all enjoy (even those of us not officially taking part in the classes!), and offering a weekly space in which we could connect with Otto in play, far removed from screens and to-do lists and all the other distractions of contemporary life.
I think the class was also very positive for parental well-being, in the way it encouraged us to shed inhibitions and explore play in our own lives. The selection of songs is fantastic – it was wonderful for all of us to be exposed to such an eclectic range of music, and for Otto to be able to assimilate different modes and meters so naturally – and you are such a warm, gentle and intuitive teacher that he immediately felt a strong connection with you. There was also a terrific variety of ways to engage with music modelled in the class – from dancing to singing to playing instruments. It’s set him up with a very strong foundation of music for life. I would (and have done!) highly recommend your beautiful class.
Hoang Hai really loves the music and the songs from your class. On the weekend, we were cycling to the park and he started to sing one of your songs; as we were walking down the street he taught us how to sing. Many people looked at us with smiling faces. We sang all the way back as well, like a choir. It was a beautiful moment. Thank you.
Thank you very much for today’s music class. The chance for Scout’s confidence to grow and her anxiety be alleviated is one of our current priorities and I felt that your class nurtured this while also exposing her to a structured yet flexible environment.
Thanks for the last class today – I have to say I am feeling sad about this stage in our life being over! We have really enjoyed coming along to your classes and have appreciated your calm and engaging approach.
